WE NEED TO FINISH THE ROOFS WE PROMISED
The midyear budget statement was a good report of the government’s performance as far as the metrics are concerned. What is needed though, as the debate is fleshed out in the House of Assembly beginning 6 March 2024, is what the government has done in practical terms to improve the lot of Bahamians since the PLP became the government in 2021. One of the metrics we hope that comes out is show the fact that the repairs to the home stock in Abaco and Grand Bahama have begun or are being executed in earnest. That roof repairs which were promised for the poor neighbourhoods in New Providence are actually executed. Our small contractors are complaining and those who fear the rains of summer cry out for attention to the constant round of assessments of their plights and look forward to the fixing of their roofs.
