U S Decision On Climate Change Stupid On Its Face
The 2nd June decision on climate change and pulling out of the Paris Accords on Climate Change by Donald Trump, the President of the United States, demonstrates how morally bankrupt the United States is under its present leadership. The world requires leadership from that country. Instead it gets insular actions, self-centred immoral conduct and the exact opposite of the understanding that to whom much is given, much is expected. It is an embarrassing point in their history that they have chosen a morally and intellectually bankrupt leader to take the reins. He is unfortunately supported by a cast of millions. The world will have to move on without them, until they catch up. Fortunately, there are also other millions of people of goodwill who live in that country who do not support this morally bankrupt policy and hopefully one day they will prevail. It is simply a sad time. We feel sorry for them. Eighty per cent of the land in The Bahamas is within five feet of sea level. Without action on climate change, the sea levels are expected to rise one metre as early as 2050. That is just about three feet. See the photo above which is a sign posted in the Pelican Bay Hotel in Freeport, Grand Bahama. The problem is an urgent one. Donald Trump has simply said by his policies that he intends for The Bahamas and Bahamians to drown. That is morally reprehensible.
