Jamaica
Shaquille Knowles and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Jamaica, the Hon. Kamina Johnson Smith.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs on 5 October congratulated Shaquille Knowles, a Bahamian Youth Leader, who at the 5th Caribbean Youth Leaders’ Summit (CYLS) hosted by the Caribbean Regional Youth Council (CRYC), was elected CRYC’s Chairman, 2018-2019. Also participating in the Summit was Parliamentary Secretary Travis Robinson.
The electoral process for the CRYC was observed by the United Nations, Commonwealth Secretariat and other organizations. CRYC is a regional youth council envisioned as a powerful entity for strengthening and unifying regional youth governance processes in the region, and young people’s participation in and contribution to regional development.
Shaquille Knowles, will begin his two year tenure as Chair 1 January 2018. He will represent CRYC and youth-led organizations throughout the Caribbean while leading an executive team of six persons of five different nationalities.
