THE PROPAGANDA MACHINE AT WORK FOR THE FNM
The FNM really thinks it’s on a good wicket with the attack on the PLP for the Vat being on breadbasket items. The PLP true to its promise lowered Vat over all by two per cent. However, in doing so it removed all exemptions. This is in line with international best practices and makes the tax cheaper on the consumer and easier to administer, and cheaper for the business person. But the FNM keeps whipping it up: the PLP is taxing poor people because VAT is on breakfast items. Never mind that if we reversed course, it would make it more expensive for all.
