THE PLP ABSTAINS ON THE IMMIGRATION BILL
Senators Fred Mitchell, Michael Darville, JoBeth Coleby Davis and Clay Sweeting in the Senate on 23 June 2021.
The Senate met on Thursday 24th June 2021 to deal with the annual budget of the country. One of the bills that passed without the support of the PLP was the bill to amend the immigration act. The PLP said it could not support the Bill because it gives to the applicant for permanent residence in this country the right to obtain Permanent Residence with the right to work after three months if the government does not reply before that time. This allows a free for all for every Tom, Dick or Harry to get the right to live and work here without the supervision of the Government.
