THE HAYWARDS MUST AGREE TO SELL THEIR SHARES
Rupert Hayward, the Hayward family spokesman
There was an article that appeared in The Tribune written by Neil Hartnell, the FNM propagandist and now unofficial mouthpiece for the Hayward family, his fellow countrymen, on 31st January 2024. The article was a full-throated defence of the Hayward family’s spokesman about the state of the Grand Bahama Port Authority and the refusal of the Haywards to sell their shares and get out of Freeport,
According to Mr. Hartnell, Fred Mitchell is the object of the press release by the Hayward side of the Grand Baham Port Authority. The Haywards are saying in the press release that they welcome an off-hand comment by the Prime Minister Philip Davis at the Business Outlook Seminar by the Prime Minister. Mr. Davis is quoted as having said that he has no dispute with the Grand Bahama Port Authority’s shareholders.
The Hayward side of the Grand Bahama Port Authority in the press release to Neil Hartnell, interpreted that to mean that the PLP government is relenting in its fight to get the Grand Bahama Port Authority’s shareholders to sell their shares. That is not true and it does not follow. Wishful thinking on their part and entirely delusional. Their time is up and they must go.
The Hayward side of the family must agree to sell their shares and to do so forthwith. The St George’s have agreed to divest themselves of the shares and allow the Government to find a buyer who can fulfil the mandate of the Grand Bahama Port Authority to the people of The Bahamas. Right now the Grand Bahama Port Authority is an abject failure. No amount of propaganda by Neil Hartnell and the Hayward side of the shareholders in the Port can change that.
The main Hayward who is always in the press mouthing off, comes off as smarmy and condescending and must be careful what they say in public lest he becomes persona non grata. These folk forget that they are guests in our country and should operate according to certain rules of conduct.
So to the Hayward side of the family, we would not take too much comfort in the reported remarks of the Prime Minister, on which you are hanging your hat. Your shares must be sold and sold quickly.
And Mr. Hartnell you should get your facts straight. The figure was 16 million, not 60 million. Check your hearing.
