THE GRUMBLING ON THE GROUND
The Government of the PLP is barely three months old but like the children of Israel, the troops are restless and not looking forward to a good Christmas but rather are saying that we should have never left Egypt. It is not clear yet whether this is correctable which it should be since the mandate has 57 months to go, but the grumbling is too loud and the pace of fixing the problems too slow the troops claim and they claim that the FNM is still being rewarded, not been dismissed and that the troops are not being rewarded for their loyalty. The problem was made worse over the past week with the release of the Board appointments and people started picking them apart saying that there were too many FNMS on the Boards. The appearance of Algernon Cargill determining Government policy at the Airport Authority was atrociously vexing for supporters. Not sure how this problem will be fixed because unemployment is the main driver of this and it appears that everyone’s solution to the problem is to get a government contract or work on the public payroll. That does not appear to be practically possible but there is no arguing it, it appears at the moment. The supporters are also very upset that the carnival has been cancelled by the Government as well. Traditional supporters on line like Bahamas Press have been picking apart various decisions, so the reliable support there cannot be taken for granted. Christmas is coming and the pressure is on to do something and do it quickly.
