Sunwing Leaves Freeport Tourism Market
Last week, the Sunwing Group of Canada announced that they will be pulling out of flying the 30,000 or so tourists they bring to the market from Canada and the US every year. So that is another blow to a depressed tourism market in Grand Bahama. Sunwing blamed the government and since they made that announcement on Thursday 11 October, not a peep from the usually loquacious Minister of Tourism Dionisio D’Aguilar. Silence not a peep. This can’t be good since these folk in the FNM have just spent 65 million dollars of public monies to buy a hotel and now this is another sign that there will be no guests to put in the hotel.
