SHANE TO CALL THE PRIME MINISTER IN HIS DEFENCE
Appearing for a status hearing before the Judge of the Supreme Court on11 June 2019, the Defence team of Shane Gibson, the former Member of Parliament, announced that they would be calling the Prime Minister to testify in the case. The Punch claimed that the Defence believes that the Prime Minister knows that he was provided money collected by Mr. Gibson as political contributions when the UBP element in the FNM was refusing to supply him with money to fight his campaign for Leader of the FNM. The back chat is that in desperation Mr. Minnis went to Shane Gibson and asked him if he could raise some money to fight his internal campaign. Mr. Gibson obliged and in cash. Perhaps then the Prime Minister can explain the nature of political gifts in The Bahamas, where no rule governs political gifts.
