SECCURITIES COMMISSION AND BISX FAIL TO KEEP DATES
A businessman in the mining business wants to start a securities company here an have it listed on the Bahamas Stock Exchange (BISX). So, in order to find out the lay of the land, he made a purpose trip to The Bahamas and Nassau to meet with officials for appointments agreed in advance: one with BISX and the other with the Securities Commission. In each case, no one showed at the appointments. While the private sector bank was most accommodating, the public bodies were lousy. It appears that it was a combination of Christmas time activities and the moving of offices. The problem is that has nothing to do with visiting businessman. If you promise someone to meet, then you meet. The Minister of Finance Peter Turnquest also cancelled his appointment and failed to show without explanation.
