Statement by Renardo Curry

The Rt. Honorable Perry G. Christie Party Leader,
 Deputy Leader Philip 'Brave' Davis,
 Party Chairman Bradley B Roberts,
 Senators & Members of Parliament,
Members of the Candidates  Committee, National General  Council members,
 Delegates from Abaco,
 Ladies & Gentlemen,

A pleasant good evening to all.

I am indeed humbled and appreciative to the Rt. Honorable Perry Christie and the Progressive liberal Party, for having endorsed me to carry the Party's Banner in the North Abaco Constituency which has been held by Hon Hubert Ingraham since the death of Abaco Community and Educational Giant the Hon Sherlin C Bootle. I would also like to recognize at this time, the two gentlemen who contended for the candidacy for North Abaco; Mr. Jackson McIntosh and Mr. Cay Mills; both I believe are truly commendable persons.

May I briefly provide some back ground information on myself. I was born in Nassau in 1974  to the late Mr. Michael Lucian & Mrs. Mizpah Curry nee McBride both of whom were born in Murphy Town Abaco. My Grand Father Rev Ben Curry of Murphy Town was a well known Pastor & Businessman. I am happily married to Temeka nee Cooper and we are the parents of two wonderful daughters. My wife & I and deeply involved in our Church and its programs. I am currently employed on contract with the GOB Treasury Dept in Abaco and a Businessman. I hold an Associate Degree and pursing the completion of a bachelor’s degree. I am presently Chairman of the Murphy Town Township Committee, Local Government and Council member of the Central Abaco District Council. My back ground and my involvement in the Community and the Church has prepared me well for the great challenge that lies ahead and with God as my helper we shall endure.

I strongly wish the Candidates Committee and the National General Council to know, that your decision will not in vain. In fact, I believe it was orchestrated by God himself. I Renardo Curry is the choice of a new youthful, energetic, and progressive  breed of PLP's, who are a very powerful force to reckon with. The one man band of domineering form of leadership is clearly not in the best interest of the people of North Abaco. The young forward thinking people of North Abaco will no longer accept being dictated to by a man who the people see once in every blue moon. His desire for fishing appears to take precedent over the people. The promise to meet on a monthly basis with the people of North Abaco happened once shortly after the General Elections of 2007.  Let me say tonight, that it is especially the will of the young people in particular and the not so young that the North Abaco Constituency will be delivered back into the hands of the Progressive Liberal Party. I believe the Almighty God agrees it is high time.

The fact is, we all recognize the dismal performance of the systems and policies we now endure. Some have classified these policies as acts of betrayal against the Bahamian people. There is no doubt in my mind, we must protect our future against this silent political conspiracy of restricted opportunities for Bahamians. I am certainly against any policy that seeks to undermine the potentials of Abaconians or even hinder our striving local businesses. The most pressing issues are jobs that includes the survival of these local businesses; health-care and a long overdue Mini Hospital; uninterrupted source of affordable electricity, education, housing, a modern Terminal for Marsh Harbour International Airport, proper indoor & outdoor sporting facilities, and Crime. These we know are essential in diminishing the social illnesses we now experience.

I can assure you distinguish Councilors, that under my leadership as the next MP for North Abaco with the support of the next PLP Government headed by Rt. Hon Perry Christie, all of these issues will be addressed. North Abaco will finally be given full time and focused representation that it deserve and with the Progressive Liberal Party policies that embraces strongly the principal of "Bahamian First"; together, we will bring about the necessary change that promotes peace and prosperity for all Abaconians. May God continue to bless the PLP. PLP ALL THE WAY!
