RACISM AGAINST THE SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE
Following the first times in the Speaker’s Chair Patricia Deveaux has been given a hard time by a raft of critics on social media. Most of it is not centered in the decisions she has made but rather has to do with the fact that she is woman and well her mannerism don’t quite match with what they expect we guess. The point we make is that it isn’t by objective criteria that they are making the objections. It seems to have started once she told Adrian Gibson the MP for Long Island who had been running on in irrelevance for more than half an hour and his time ran out. He asked for an extension of the time. The Speaker refused which she is allowed to do. Suddenly the talk about being biased and that she used to sell hot dogs. None of which has anything to do with the price of cheese. Did she act within her discretion? The answer is yes. Did she say anything that was offensive? The answer is no So what then is the problem? We say again : misogyny, classicism, racism.
