PROMOTIONS IN THE PUBLIC SERVICE

Every day of every week, scores of public servants are assaulting the Government about their pay and promotions.  You cannot name one employee or one department that is actually  satisfied with their life and their employment.  The level of complaints is incredible  So no promotions were done for the prison, the police and the defence force and the immigration and customs departments under the FNM.  Now that the PLP is power, there is the expectation that on day one everyone will get promoted. This is not realistic but there will be promotions.  The problem is that the Public Service Commission is terribly slow in processing the  necessary paper work.  They also need more people and more space  to do their work. The Government should also consider changing the public service commission rules to cause a quicker flow of work.
