Dr. Nicola Virgill-Rolle, Director of Economic Development and Planning of the National Development and Planning Unit in the Office of The Prime Minister, presented to the Bahamas Press Club ideas charting the National Development Plan (NDP) Bill, January 5, 2016 at the British Colonial Hilton.
Dr. Rolle stated that the main concern of the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) is to introduce a National Development Plan that provides answers to challenges to the Economy, Governance, Social Policy, and the natural Environment, that are sustainable, non-partisan measures institutionalized in law.
The Government’s master plan, ‘Vision 2040,’ is an initiative funded by an IDB grant, to combat the lack of growth in the Bahamian GDP that is heavily impacting society. To fine-tune the plan there will be further community engagement.
