PLP ISSUES A STATEMENT ON BARBARA HANNA
STATEMENT
FROM THE CHAIRMAN OF THE PLP
ON BARBARA HANNA LOSING THE CONTRACT
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
26 APRIL 2019
The
reports now say that Barbara Hanna, the chief witness in the Commissioner of
Police vs Frank Smith, has lost the contract with the Public Hospitals
Authority. Her evidence was not thought not to be credible by the magistrate in
the case. The Minister of Health Duane Sands who was intimately involved in
bringing the case against Mr. Smith gave a contract to the Hanna company at the
Public Health Authority. The testimony in the case revealed that the Hanna
company was a donor to his campaign. The contract was approved by the minister
prior to her giving evidence against Mr. Smith.
The Ministers conduct was condemned by the Court. So was the conduct of another
Minister Marvin Dames.
We called for both Marvin Dames and Duane Sands who brought Ms. Hanna to the
judicial table to resign or be dismissed.
Let me tell the FNM Government what the court of public opinion has now
concluded. Ms. Hanna has done her worst. She was used by the FNM and failed to
get the desired result. Now she appears to have been kicked to the curb. The
contract has been taken away from her and she has fat nothing to show for it.
The FNM are a heartless, ungracious group. How is she supposed to feel now?
The FNM should not fire Ms. Hanna but rather fire Duane Sands and Marvin Dames
who both refuse to do the honourable thing and resign forthwith. In the name of
God go now!
