MICHAEL PINTARD EMBARASSES HIMSELF WITH LABOUR
Michael Pintard in his other life used to be a playwright and actor. He was also a comedian on the stage. Stand up was his stock in trade. Now that he is Leader of the Opposition he cannot seem to leave those trades behind. Last week he was in the press with great animation and froth to suggest that the government had mistreated labour by not registering industrial agreements that they had signed. The Minister of Labour Pia Glover Rolle answered him back. She reminded him that the FNM signed not one industrial agreement when they were in office for four and half years: not one. She told him the processes that are required to register the 23 some agreements that the PLP has signed since coming to office with labour and most are in process if not already registered but in any case enforceable and active. There’s a message to Mr. Pintard in all of this : check the facts before you open your mouth. This is not the Dundas stage but real life.
