BUILDING ON THE WATER TABLE IN ABACO
Last week the Government announced that it was putting in temporary housing in Abaco in an area of land between Spring City and the Marsh Harbour Airport. It is to house up to 1000 people for up to three years. Only problem is the new housing development is built on land reserved to provide fresh water for Abaco. Despite it being raised in the House of Assembly, the Government continues with its programme. Also leaders in Abaco say that the Bahamas Power and Light Company are putting down poles that they don’t use in Nassau because they have a substance which poisons the water table. BPL says that is all they have so they are using them to restore light to Abaco.
