BRENT SYMONETTE TO RESIGN ON MONDAY
Doing the rounds of the political class is the story that Brent Symonette, the Minister for Financial Services, Investments and Immigration is to resign and to be replaced by Ellsworth Johnson as the Minister effective Monday 1 July 2019. The reason for the reported resignation is not known but this will be the second time that he has resigned as a public official in the face of conflict of interest allegations. The first time he was asked to resign by Hubert Ingraham , when he gave a contract to his own company as Chairman of the Airport Authority, for paving work at the Lynden Pindling International Airport. Today he is embroiled in another scandal that of putting the post office in the Town Centre Mall which he owns. The talk is also that the Department of Immigration is now in a building which he owns as well as a proposal to put the passport office in the Towne Centre Mall. Scandal after scandal seems to envelop him. Well we will see come Monday.
