A Tribute To Sir Henry In Long Island
11 July 2018, the Chairman of the PLP Senator Fred Mitchell led a special service to commemorate the life and times of Sir Henry Taylor, co-founder of the PLP with the late William Cartwright and Cyril Stevenson. Sir Henry served as Chairman of the PLP from 1953 to 1963 and as Chairman Emeritus after that. He later served as Governor General. He served in the House of Assembly first as the MP for Long Island and then the Eastern District from 1949 to 1956 and 1960 to 1962 respectively. Senator Mitchell was joined by Men’s Branch Chair Keith Cox, Stalwart Councillor Kendal Butler, Men’s Branch members Lamar Matthews, Sirnardo Hart, Party Vice Chair Terence Bethel, Atisha Kemp, also known as Queen B, and the officers and members of the Branches in Long Island including Vandyke Adderley, The Minnises and the Majors, Deacon Patrick Darville Of the Roman Catholic Diocese. The ceremony took place in the Catholic Cemetery in Long Island.
