CRYING TEARS FOR DUANE SANDS
For three weeks now you may as well say, the Chairman of the Free National Movement Dr, Duane Sands has been attacking Fred Mitchell. No doubt their foreign minders have told the FNM that there is some profit in this politically for them. Good luck to them.
We hope that it is not the same advisors who told Hubert Minnis that he was more popular than Brave Davis, then the Opposition Leader, and was persuaded on their advice to call the general election in 2021. You see where he ended up. Losing and losing badly.
Dr Sands started this all by calling on the Prime Minister to apologise for putting up billboards advertising the number of murders in the country when he was in opposition to the FNM government. The Chairman of the PLP Fred Micthell pointed out that Dr. Sands who had been judicially condemned by the courts for interfering in the Frank Smith case, and who was fired for breaking the covid rules when he was Minister of Health had no leg to stand on. He had no moral or other authority to lecture anyone on crime.
Following Mr. Mitchell’s counterattack, then Dr. Sands went on a tear with all kinds of horse dead and cow fat about Fred Mitchell personally and then called for the Prime Minister to fire Mr. Mitchell from the job as Chairman of the party.
Then the coup de grace had to be the Leader of the Opposition Michael Pintard giving a 2 minute 47 seconds audio piece to say that Fred Mitchell was engaging in violent language and then (get this) because Mr. Mitchell called for a boycott of Dr. Sands practice, because Dr. Sands hated PLPs so, Mr. Pintard claimed this was the worst sin of all. Martin Luther King would be surprised at that claim.
By this week, the back and forth was still going on with the FNM hiring various no count individuals to attack Mr. Mitchell with scurrilous language. Even low life talk show host Ortland Bodie got into the fray. But true to form at week’s end Fred Mitchell said, he stood by every word he said unchanged and unbowed.
