ELSWORTH JOHNSON DIGS A DEEPER HOLE ON TV
You know sometimes in politics you should wear your garment lightly. So Mr. Smarty Pants Ellsworth Johnson is running for the Chairmanship of the Free National Movement. He hasn’t got a chance in hell what with Duane Sands, the establishment favourite and Michael Foulkes, the other establishment candidate in the race. Those of the darker hue in that party don’t stand a chance against them folks. ( Pardon the pun ). In his mad quest to do the impossible, Mr. Johnson decided to pick on the Chairman of the PLP Fred Mitchell who was minding his own business. First he said that Mr. Mitchell should be removed as Chairman, Why he is getting in the PLPs business who knows? Then he called the man a sissy, well you know with a wink and nod. Then when the fans of Mr. Mitchell struck back telling him what an ungrateful wretch he was after the man got him out of jail, he goes back on TV to explain why he was in jail. Well just for that, the delegates of the FNM ought to dismiss his attempt. Some things you leave alone. Who cares why he went to jail? The only thing that counts is character. Mr. Johnson told the TV audience that a friend like Mr. Mitchell should not talk what he does. That’s true but then Mr. Johnson started it first. Mr. Mitchell’s people only finished it.
