CHANGES HAVE TO BE MADE IN THE PUBLIC SERVICE
We once again seek to support the call for reform of the processes of the public service. There are two that are particularly vexing. One is when you retire it takes almost a year to get the gratuity and pension to which you are entitled. The other is the lack of personnel policies which will see people promoted and properly rewarded in a timely fashion. That is on the personnel side. The other is the inability of the public service to be proactive in seeking to design forward thinking government policy. There are too many personnel and personal obstacles in the service which or who seem intent on blocking government policies. The result is in this this small society governmental decisions are never properly carried out, and they take too long to be carried out.
