THE FNM’S SPORTS’ POLICY: HOW NOT TO TREAT AN ATHLETE

Steven Gardener told the story at lunch about the Minister of Sports under the  FNM Lanisha Rolle holding them up in Dubai because she couldn’t make the appointment to meet them on time because she had gone shopping.  Give us a lil respect huh.  That’s the FNM for you.  They have cut subventions from the athletes, cancelled sports programmes, disregarded long standing practices and always in a fight with the  sports associations.  The PLP was the exact opposite. Yet people voted to put the FNM in office.  Today the sports programmes around the country have collapsed even as the athletes you see today in baseball, basketball and track and field are excelling. They are excelling because there was ground work laid by people who said: this cannot stand.  The PLP helped to support that growth.  No thanks to the FNM.  There you have it.  But young people say: all parties are alike. Huh?
