From The Office of the Chairman of the PLP On The Passing of Chairman Emeritus Bradley Roberts
For Immediate Release
25 October 2018
The Leader of the Progressive Liberal Party Philip Davis announces with deep sadness and regret the passing unexpectedly of Chairman Emeritus Bradley Roberts.
Mr Roberts served as Chairman for two terms, the last of which was from 2009 to 2017. He was elected Chairman Emeritus during the special convention of 28 July 2018.
Mr Robert’s first emerged in public life in the 1977 general election as a candidate for the now abolished Shirlea Constituency opposing the late Sir Roland Symonette. He emerged victorious in a by-election following the death of Shadrach Morris the incumbent in the old Grants Town constituency in 1982.
He was instrumental in the return of the PLP to office in 2002. He became known as Big Bad Brad who found material of political value in what he called his garbage can.
The Leader describes him as a giant of a man… a champion of the cause of the poor… a trusted advisor…good friend and a first class chairman.
We of the PLP are enormously grateful for his life of service and the patriotism which he displayed and his love of party.
Our condolences go out to his family from all of us in the PLP.
May he rest in peace.
End
