On The Speaker Of The House of Assembly’s Attack on Fred Mitchell
In the Nassau Guardian, there was a story in which the Speaker of the House Dr. Kendal Major attacked Fred Mitchell because there was a voice note which was sent to his PLP Fox Hill Branch and it made its way into the public domain. The Speaker said that Mr. Mitchell did not speak for him. There was no public indication in evidence that Mr. Mitchell said that he was speaking for the Speaker. The Speaker said that he had been disrespected. The Speaker said he that the PLP’s brand had been damaged. We thought a rule of thumb in most political parties even in the era of Trump is not to attack colleagues without the facts being established. Secondly, we quote Ecclesiastes 3:7 “A time to keep silence, and a time to speak”.
