IS THE UNITED STATES A SAFE PLACE TO BE?

Do not leave your passports and important documents in your cars. There are always spates of robberies around this time of year in the parking lots of malls, where people leave their documents in their cars. Do not get out of your car if you are bumped on the road. Simply keep going to a police station. That is often times a ruse to rob in Miami. But something new is occurring this year that may need the Ministry’s attention and that is the spate of mass killings where people simply get a gun in the US go to a shopping mall and kill scores of people at a time. The policy response in the US has been limp and we are not sure what you do but to warn Bahamians that there have been a spate of random shootings in the United States and they are at all times to be aware of their surroundings and of the nearest exits to buildings where they are, as a protection from this kind of random violence. People are talking about Nassau and Paris but right next door, we face irrational carnage and inadequate public policy responses.

I live in Ontario California not to far from the shootings in San Bernardino. I try my best not to go to Malls or movies or any place that has large gatherings. I don’t feel safe anymore. I tell my friends that if I had the money I would buy the island of Bird Cay and live there. Now our President has allowed people into the US, he is out of his mind. He doesn’t care about the safety of it’s citizens. Trump may be a loud mouth, but he seems to care.
