From Tristan Lockhart:
What a friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and griefs to bear! What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer.- Joseph Scriven
I write with a heavy heart tonight as I begin to come to the realization that my bishop, priest and friend is no longer here. Bishop Cornell Moss was the most influential person that ever came into my life. He helped me through the darkest periods of my life, not only as my priest, but as my friend. We shared a very real friendship. One that was filled with the good, the bad and the ugly. However, through it all, we were friends to the end. His death is a shock to many of us, especially to his family, the church family, and the Diocese of Guyana whom he loved dearly. Cornell died empty. He had reached the mark as a priest that most priests could only dream of reaching. He has transformed and build every parish he touched, inspired hope and brought new life to the Diocese of Guyana. Most of all, I will miss our conversations. We touched on every aspect of life itself. Our most recent conversation was 3 weeks ago asking me “when will you offer yourself to the sacred priesthood. Time is running out” I laughed as it reminded me of our first conversation a decade ago. We had come full circle speaking about something we first talked about. Our conversations about current affairs, the church, bahamian politics, the lectures, the scolding and the jokes, I will always remeber. I will miss the bond we shared. The late nights with coffee, chicken in the bag, wine, with a big glass of water conversing I will cherish. I will miss the dedication and love you had for the church. You are truly an inspiration. I will always love you my friend. You have done well. Time to take your rest. I promise you, I will never let you down
Your boy,
Tristan Lockhart
